Understanding fabric: softness and recovery

Softness is only the first impression. A fabric worn next to skin must also breathe, recover and remain stable after repeated washing.

Understanding fabric: softness and recovery

Bra fabric stays close to the skin while enduring stretch, perspiration and washing. Go beyond “it feels soft” by looking at three qualities you can actually test.

Softness shapes the first touch, recovery maintains the fit, and breathability defines how it feels all day.
01 / SOFTNESS

Skin comfort comes from fibre, knit and finish

A fine knit reduces rough friction, while the right amount of stretch lets fabric move with the body. Good softness should still feel even and stable, with seams and cup edges that do not repeatedly rub.

  • Use the back of your hand to check smoothness
  • Fabric should not whiten or thin when lightly stretched
  • Cup edges and seams should be flat and free of hard points
02 / RECOVERY

After stretching, does it return quickly?

Recovery affects long-term stability. Gently stretch the band or side wing and watch how it returns. Fabric that remains wavy or distorted is more likely to shift or gape with wear.

  • Useful differences between horizontal and vertical stretch
  • A quick, smooth return after stretching
  • Shape remains stable after repeated wear and washing
03 / CARE

Care correctly to preserve softness and stretch

Heat, forceful spinning and tumble drying accelerate elastic ageing. Use a laundry bag and mild detergent, wash gently at low temperature and air dry. Store flat or nest the cups to prevent crushing.

  • Use a laundry bag and mild detergent
  • Avoid heat, tumble drying and wringing
  • Let the bra dry completely before storing

Choose fabric by touch, recovery and breathability—not softness alone.
